The day starts with the usual crawl through Worcester's traffic out of the city and on to Evesham where a delightfully empty desk awaits...
As the day moves on - and Wednesday is press day - the clutter piles up and so does the coffee intake. Final pages are checked and cleared for the presses before I head off for Bradford where Newsquest-Gannett are holding their annual editorial conference.
This glittering event took place in the Museum of Film and TV, presided over by the benevolent figure of JB Priestley (who atttracted odd interest from some of the Midlands editors).
The Journal Series had been nominated as the company's free newspaper of the year and - when we were announced as the winner - delight and champagne burst out all over the place.
Back to the hotel finally well after midnight at the end of a memorable day.
