L
Walker - a teacher at Prince Henry's High School.
Every day is an early start for me. I wake up at 7am and wish I didn't
have to. I'm not very good in the mornings.
Now that those early morning blues are gone, it's time to take David
to school at Blackminster. School there starts at 8.20am, which still
gives me time to dash back home and collect my things, before going
off to work. I get back home and it's now time for Tom to leave for
Offenham School, which starts at 8.45am. With the children gone, it's
time to say a quick goodbye to Robin my husband, who is busy working
from home, before I leave the house. I arrive at school with children
in tow. There's just time to examine Year 9 and 10 reports before I
make my way to the staffroom and as I enter I can see that they are
all working hard.
Mr
Miller is looking through his work for the day, while Mrs Steadman and
Mrs McLeish chat about last night's TV. By mid-morning, it's time for
a look at what's going on around the school. On the field, Peter Spencer
practices long jump for sports day and Dan Lecasy shows off his throwing
skills to Mr Quirk. Well, we can't spend all day wandering about outside,
so it's back into school for a personal and social education lesson
with Year 9. Their task today is to inform 11-13-year-olds what they
should know about meningitis.
This
lesson is followed by break - the staff take a well-deserved rest in
the history office. One more history lesson with Year 10, then it's
time to fight my way through the canteen to get some lunch. After recovering
from this ordeal, I have to go and supervise a GCSE exam, and this is
followed by my final Year 9 class of the day.
I rush home to get the tea ready, then it's time to take David and Tom
rowing. I drop them off and go and visit some friends, returning later
to pick up the children (after a quick drink in the bar!) After a busy
time at rowing, the children are tired, but like it or not there's shopping
to be done. After going wild in the aisles of Safeway, it's back in
the car and home, where we all relax after this busy day.
